Install ChatCode, give AI a folder to work in, then start chatting.

You do not need to understand MCP, tunnels, or the architecture behind them. Just remember one thing: ChatCode lets AI work with folders you explicitly add, only within the permissions you grant.

A “Project” does not have to be a coding project. In ChatCode, a Project is simply a working folder. It can contain source code, Markdown/CSV/JSON files, a text knowledge base, research data, or an empty folder where AI writes results.

Project = a folder where you allow AI to work.

ChatCode needs a clear boundary for what may be read or changed on your computer.

📁 Source code

Websites, apps, plugins, and Git repositories. Project Brain understands files, symbols, and relationships so AI can find the right context.

📚 Text data library

Markdown, TXT, CSV, JSON, config, and other UTF‑8 files can be used as sources for AI to search, read, and summarize.

📝 Output folder

A separate writable folder where AI can create reports, code, documents, or other outputs without modifying the source.

A safe beginner workflow: add D:\Company-Data as read-only and D:\AI-Output as writable. In chat, ask AI to read from the first folder and save results into the second.

Current limitation: local file reading works best with UTF‑8 text/code files. Binary files such as PDF, DOCX, and XLSX should not be treated as directly readable unless ChatCode has a dedicated capability or the content is converted to an appropriate text format.

Install and open ChatCode.

You can start with Free immediately; a license is only needed for paid entitlements.

1. Open the Downloads page.

2. Chọn ngôn ngữ.

Ngay khi mở bộ cài, chọn English hoặc Tiếng Việt. Lựa chọn này được dùng tiếp trong quá trình cài và trong ứng dụng.

3. Xác nhận cài đặt.

Đọc phần tóm tắt điều khoản, tick đồng ý rồi bấm Cài / Sửa chữa. Nếu máy đã có ChatCode, bộ cài sẽ xử lý theo luồng cập nhật/sửa chữa thay vì tạo một bản cài chồng chéo.

4. Chờ tải gói phát hành an toàn.

ChatCode tải bản phát hành từ máy chủ và kiểm tra kích thước, SHA‑256 và chữ ký phát hành trước khi thực thi.

5. Mở ChatCode.

Sau khi hoàn tất, ứng dụng có thể được khởi động ngay. Vào trang Làm việc và kiểm tra trạng thái ChatCode đang chạy.

6. Free thì bỏ qua License.

If you purchased a key: License → Nhập license key → Kích hoạt.

Add a working folder.

You can add a small folder, a large folder tree, or even an entire drive — but choose a sensible scope.

1. Click “+ Add project”.

Use the Work page or the Projects menu.

2. Choose a folder.

For example D:\Work\shop, D:\Research hoặc D:\.

3. Click “Select folder”.

ChatCode stores the folder boundary and creates the project with write permissions disabled by default.

4. If you add an entire drive.

Keep it read-only. Very large drives can make indexing/search heavier and introduce unrelated files. Splitting by purpose is usually better.

ChatCode still blocks common sensitive areas such as .env, .ssh, private keys, and credentials; it also skips many build/cache folders such as node_modules, target, dist.

Permissions are independent for each folder.

This is key to using ChatCode with real data while keeping risk under control.

Only want AI to read?

Leave write permissions off. AI can list/search/read within the project but cannot modify files.

Want to edit existing files?

Enable Sửa file.

Want to create/delete/rename?

Also enable Tạo / xóa / đổi tên.

Want to build/test the project?

Enable Chạy task. Tasks still remain within ChatCode's allow-list.

Want to stage/commit Git locally?

Enable Ghi Git cục bộ. ChatCode does not push automatically just because this permission is enabled.

Dùng ChatCode đọc project Company-Data. Tổng hợp các file CSV tháng 7 và tạo report-july.md trong project AI-Output. Không sửa bất kỳ file nào trong Company-Data.

Connect your AI platform.

Với ChatGPT, bạn chỉ cần sao chép link kết nối trong ChatCode, add nó vào một lần rồi quay lại cuộc chat để giao việc tự nhiên.

1. Copy link trong ChatCode.

Vào Làm việc → Kết nối AI Chat, chọn ChatGPT rồi bấm Copy link kết nối. Link đầy đủ có mã bảo mật được ẩn trên màn hình và chỉ được đưa vào clipboard khi bạn bấm nút này.

2. Mở Cài đặt của ChatGPT.

Nhấn ảnh đại diện/tên tài khoản ở góc trái dưới → Cài đặt.

3. Mở Plugin.

Trong cửa sổ Cài đặt, chọn Plugin → Duyệt plugin.

4. Thêm plugin riêng.

Ở trang Plugin, bấm dấu + ở bên phải để mở cửa sổ Plugin mới.

5. Tạo ChatCode.

Nhập tên ChatCode, dán nguyên link vừa copy vào phần URL máy chủ. Nếu bạn chưa dùng xác thực nâng cao, giữ lựa chọn xác thực mặc định. Tick Tôi hiểu và muốn tiếp tục rồi bấm Tạo.

Xong. Từ đây bạn có thể quay lại cuộc chat và yêu cầu ChatGPT đọc, kiểm tra hoặc làm việc với project đã cấp quyền trong ChatCode.

Grok	grok.com/connectors → New Connector → Custom → dán MCP server URL.	Custom MCP requires a public endpoint. ChatCode currently uses a direct tunnel for Grok, so the URL may change after restart.

Cách copy đúng link: ChatCode → Làm việc → Kết nối AI Chat → chọn đúng nền tảng → Copy link kết nối. Không tự sửa URL và không chia sẻ link ra ngoài.

Interfaces and plan entitlements change quickly. Nếu bạn không thấy đúng tên mục such as ảnh, đừng đoán đường dẫn. Xem ChatCode AI compatibility matrix để kiểm tra trạng thái và hướng dẫn hiện tại.

Chat đầu tiên: bắt đầu thật đơn giản.

Sau khi kết nối xong, bạn không cần dùng câu lệnh kỹ thuật. Hãy nói việc cần làm theo cách tự nhiên, nhưng ở lần đầu nên yêu cầu AI kiểm tra trước khi sửa.

The connection is working when: the AI calls ChatCode itself, returns the correct project/file names from your computer, and you do not have to upload files one by one. Khi đã xác nhận đúng project, bạn có thể tiếp tục bằng yêu cầu tự nhiên such as “sửa lỗi này, test lại rồi build”.
