ChatCode connection link
The AI needs a connection link to reach the correct ChatCode instance running on your computer. You do not need to open router ports, remember IP addresses, or configure complex networking. ChatCode creates the complete link with its security code; just click Copy link kết nối and paste it into your AI.

Why use a URL instead of an IP address?
A computer or Internet connection can have a changing IP address, and many home, company, or ISP networks do not allow direct inbound connections. ChatCode uses a URL as the connection address so ChatGPT can reach the correct device without exposing your IP or requiring router configuration.
When the old URL stops working:
- Open ChatCode on your computer.
- Copy the Connection URL new one.
- Update the connector URL in ChatGPT.
- If ChatGPT does not let you edit the URL, remove the old connector and add it again using the new URL.
Fixed-URL access is determined by the effective plan/account/license policy. If that entitlement is off, you may need to update the connector when the temporary address changes.
Plans with fixed-URL entitlement
With a fixed-URL entitlement, the address you added to ChatGPT remains the same. When the computer or ChatCode restarts, the app restores the connection behind that address automatically.
A fixed URL does not mean ChatGPT can work while the project computer is off. The computer holding the project still needs to be powered on, online, and running ChatCode.
ChatGPT says ChatCode is not connected
If you see this message, check in this order:
- Is the computer holding the project powered on?
- Is ChatCode running?
- Does the computer have Internet access?
- Wait until the app reports that the connection is ready, then call ChatCode again from ChatGPT.
Your account does not have fixed-URL entitlement
If ChatCode or ChatGPT reports this error, your current plan does not include a fixed connection address. Use the link shown in ChatCode and update the connector when the URL changes.
ChatGPT reports the connector as unavailable/disabled
First confirm that ChatCode is online. If the URL changed on the Free plan, update the connector. If the URL is correct and the app is online but the connector is still disabled in the current ChatGPT session, remove the broken connector and add it again, then try in a new conversation.
How to install or update the connection link
- Open ChatCode and choose the AI platform you want to use.
- Bấm Copy link kết nối. ChatCode builds the correct address and security code automatically; you do not need to edit the URL yourself.
- Open connector/app management in ChatGPT, Claude, Mistral/Vibe, or Grok and paste the copied link.
- If the platform does not let you edit the current connector, remove it and add it again with the new link.
- Name the connector ChatCode so it is easy to recognize.
Choose an AI platform for ChatCode
In the ChatCode app, choose ChatGPT, Claude, Mistral/Vibe, or Grok, then click Copy link kết nối. The full connector URL is not displayed directly on screen to reduce the risk of exposing its token accidentally.
To avoid this guide becoming stale, ChatCode maintains a separate dated compatibility matrix covering ChatGPT, Claude, Mistral/Vibe, Grok, write/modify and mobile support.
Grok uses a temporary tunnel URL
In the current architecture, ChatCode gives Grok a direct tunnel URL. This URL may change when ChatCode, cloudflared, or the tunnel restarts.
After restarting the app, if Grok cannot connect:
- Open ChatCode and choose Grok.
- Bấm Copy link kết nối to get the new tunnel URL.
- Open Grok's Connectors section.
- Update the URL if Grok supports editing; otherwise remove the old connector and add it again with the new URL.
ChatCode only shows the tunnel hostname for diagnostics; the full tokenized URL stays hidden on screen and is copied only when you click Copy.
Two security modes for connection links
The ChatCode link contains the security code required for the AI to connect. Just click Copy link kết nối and paste it into the AI.
Requirement: keep the link private. If you suspect a leak, click Tạo mã mới in ChatCode; the old link will lose access. Then copy the new link and update the connector in your AI.
Enable Bảo mật nâng cao in ChatCode. The AI must also be authorized by your account through OAuth; knowing the link alone is not enough to call tools.
The license must be linked to your account. When the AI requests authentication, sign in and authorize the correct connector.
You can switch between both modes. You do not need a separate change-URL button: to revoke an old link, just Generate new code → Copy connection link → update it in the AI.
Connection URL security
ChatCode production is designed to separate the connector address from access authorization. Knowing a fixed URL should not automatically grant tool access to your computer.
Do not post your connection URL on forums, social networks, public issues, or screenshots. The repository remains on your computer and ChatCode exposes tools only within configured projects and permissions.
- Open ChatCode và bấm Tạo mã mới. The old code and links that use it will become invalid.
- Choose the AI you use and click Copy link kết nối.
- Update the AI connector with the new link; if the platform does not allow editing, remove the old connector and add it again.
- Review activity for anything unusual and rotate related credentials if there are signs of unauthorized access.
If you are using Bảo mật nâng cao, knowing the link is still not enough because the AI also needs valid authorization. In Tiêu chuẩn, treat the connection link like a password and rotate the code immediately if you suspect a leak.
